To all,

WarCraft DevArt is currently being reconceptualized.

I apologize for the club's getting lost in the Nether but actions are currently being taken to revive DeviantArt's premier WarCraft FanClub.

A new layout, DA membership, better club membership and fanart submission systems, and stronger management will usher in an entirely new club experience.

Expect an entirely new monster of a WarCraft club by January 1st, 2007.

If you're interested in helping with the reincarnation rituals (avatar redesign, author tags, devID design, welcome mat, etc..), drop me a note or just IM me. Ideas and suggestions are also very much welcome.

To all the deviants who've stuck with the club, especially those who poked me with the "Is-it-dead-or-something?" stick, as always, your support has been, and will always be, deeply appreciated.

NEUTRAL HERO DRAWOFF ENDS

WarCraft DA's first official drawoff comes to a close. Only three deviants were able to actually submit entries and they are the following:

yellow-five
labpizza

The three were able to come up with awesome renditions of WarCraft's two new neutral heroes, the malevolent FireLord, and the dabbling Goblin Alchemist with his bumbling Ogre slave.

To provide impartiality in the judging of this drawoff, the entries were evaluated by three of my contacts from the fine arts academe. The primary judge was Mr. Edwin Celestino, who currently teaches Photography and other creative subjects at one of the Philippines premier collleges. His comments and critiques will soon be posted for the drawoff participants' benefit. The decision for WCDA's first ever drawoff is as follows:

1st place: The FireLord by yellow-five
2nd place: The FireLord by xGeekpower
3rd place: The Goblin Alchemist by labpizza

Since there are only three participants, they will just choose which prize they want. He who ranks higher chooses first. To the participants, you will be receiving a note containing more information shortly after this journal entry has been posted. Thank you for participating in this drawoff. Thank you to everyone who supported this entire endeavor.

communities InterClub Contest

communities has invited our club to participate in its InterClub contest. As most of you know, communities is a club dedicated to gathering and promoting the various clubs present in deviantART. communities has categorized the different DA clubs according to their point of interest. WarCraft DA, of course, is listed under the Gaming category. Now, the preview graphic that will represent each category in communities is up for grabs. Imagine opening the Gaming category and the first thing you'll see is a deviation representing WarCraft DA. This is a huge honor and a great way to promote our club even more.

For a club to participate, communities requires the members of the participating club to render themselves as a character from the world their club exists in. So in our case, we must recreate ourselves into a WarCraft character. Anything goes guys. Be a Night Elf, a Knight, a Gryphon, or even a snail. As long as its obvious that you're from WarCraft, it's all good. For more details, visit communities. I am currently asking communities if they would accept submissions that depict a group of WarCraft WCDA members instead of solo pics. I'll let everyone know what they say in a couple of days.

The deadline for this contest is on January 2005.

WARCRAFT DA'S 1ST OFFICIAL DRAWOFF

    The Frozen Throne Patch 1.17 has finally been officially made available for download. Along with the expected balance changes and tweaks to WarCraft III, 2 new neutral heroes have been added to further add variety and freshness to the gameplay. The FireLord, the fiery counterpart of the Archmage's water elementals, and the Goblin Alchemist, an odd pairing of a goblin alchemist and an ogre slave, are sure to create ripples anew in the game's already complex strategems and tactics.

    To coincide with this patch's release, WarCraft DA's first drawoff will have the two new heroes as its subjects. This competition is open to all members of WarCraft DA. The breakdown of this drawoff's mechanics is listed below.

Subject
  Either the FireLord or the Goblin Alchemist or both, depicted in any pose or setting. For character references, visit the following links:  The Goblin Alchemist, The Firelord

Media
  Any medium. Digital, traditional, photography, collage, etc.

Participants
  If you want to participate in this drawoff, send us a note that you want to join the club because this drawoff is open to WarCraft DA members only. Please also explicitly state in the note that you are joining the drawoff. When the club receives your note, your name and entry will be added to the official list below.

Prizes
  The decision whether or not there will be more than one winner of this drawoff will largely depend on how many contest entries there will be. If the number of entries exceed 12, there will definitely be 2 winners, or maybe 3 if the club can think of any more prizes to give. Prizes as of the moment consist of:
  a) a custom made airbrushed t-shirt with a design specified by the drawoff winner
  b) 3 month DA membership
  c) moderatorship of WarCraft DA
  d) ...more prizes will be added if the number of participants calls for it.

Drawoff Judges
  The decision whether this contest will be decided by a panel of judges, or by a democratic voting process is still being deliberated by WarCraft DA's moderators. A consensus will be arrived at in a few days.

  This is the first official drawoff of WarCraft DA so its success will largely determine whether or not there will be any more like it in the future. WarCraft DA is proud of its status as DA's premier WarCraft resource page and your participation in this drawoff will help maintain the club's enviable position.

Take a crack at rendering the two new heroes of WarCraft and aside from the possibility of your entry winning the drawoff, you will be helping WarCraft DA grow even more. So get those creative juices flowing already or else I'll have Frostmourne jammed up that procrastinating ass of yours!!
